"Ask the Allergist" questions are answered by Dr. Douglas Johnston, an Allergist/Immunologist with Allergy Partners of the Upstate in Greenville, South Carolina. Dr. Johnston received his D.O. from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, New York, and received fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He joined Allergy Partners, the largest single specialty Allergy practice in the United States in 2006. Dr. Johnston is a board certified in Allergy and Immunology and Internal Medicine. He has received several awards for research and clinical excellence including the Clemens von Pirquet Award for best research by a fellow in training and John F. Aloia Award for academic achievement and clinical excellence during his residency in Internal Medicine. He serves on several professional and community committees which aim to improve the quality of care in the field of Allergy and Immunology. Dr. Johnston has been published in several journals and is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and has been involved in clinical studies that involve Hereditary Angioedema and treatment of asthma with novel pharmacologic agents.
